Sounds OTT but it really isn't. Here's why. Because you have to "spend money to save money" (I'm reliably assured) we now have some things that we did want and need, and far beyond, e.g., more mandarins and lemons than a family could consume in a month, half of which cannot fit in the large French fruit bowl we have. BTW, mandarins and lemons naturally go overripe and then off within 2 weeks. Awesome, this should save us plenty when we throw half of them away in a couple of weeks.
We also have 3.6lbs of "dog treats" full of, amongst other crap, corn syrups and titanium dioxide. Just what a dog needs. NOT. That's just sad given all the tongue clicking and tut-tutting I hear around here whilst watching Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution on Hulu. Of course, we all knew before the latest big box shopping trip today that the dog's treat cupboard was already full, too. *sigh*.
I like to think we're about as resilient as any other normal shopper, possibly slightly even more. Maybe I'm wrong. Nevertheless, thank you so much, Big Box store.
